Explore Creativity, Leadership & Hands-On Learning at Holy Spirit Catholic School

At Holy Spirit Catholic School, students are encouraged to discover their passions, explore future career pathways, and develop real-world skills through a wide variety of engaging Career and Technology Foundations (CTF) option courses. These programs allow students to learn through creativity, collaboration, leadership, and hands-on experiences while making meaningful connections between classroom learning and future careers.

Active Living & Outdoor Education

Students who enjoy movement, fitness, and the outdoors can participate in Active Living and Outdoor Education. These programs encourage students to build confidence, leadership, teamwork, and wellness through recreational activities and outdoor skill development.

Outdoor Education introduces students to important outdoor skills such as fire building, shelter construction, environmental stewardship, outdoor safety, and wildlife awareness while encouraging students to try new activities and connect with nature.

Arts, Design & Creativity

Creative students can explore a variety of artistic pathways through Art, Graphic Design, Film Studies, and Textile Studies. These courses allow students to express themselves while learning practical design and production skills.

Students may:

  • Create 2D and 3D artwork
  • Explore graphic design and laser cutting
  • Analyze filmmaking techniques and storytelling
  • Learn sewing, crochet, and textile crafting skills

These courses help students build creativity, problem-solving skills, and technical abilities while exploring potential careers in art, media, fashion, and design industries.

Leadership, Mentorship & Community Building

Holy Spirit also offers opportunities for students to grow as leaders through Peer Mentorship and collaborative learning experiences. 

In Peer Mentorship, students learn caregiving and leadership skills while working directly with younger students in classroom settings under teacher guidance. The course helps students develop confidence, communication, responsibility, and a stronger connection to their school community.

Business, Sports & Entrepreneurship

Students interested in athletics and business can explore the exciting world of sports management through Business of Sport. 

In this unique course, students learn how to:

  • Develop business plans
  • Manage sports operations
  • Explore marketing and advertising
  • Plan budgets and events
  • Help organize intramural activities

This hands-on program combines leadership, teamwork, entrepreneurship, and sport culture into one engaging learning experience.

Foods & Life Skills

Through Foods Studies, students gain practical life skills while learning about nutrition, kitchen safety, food preparation, and wellness. 

Students prepare a variety of meals and snacks while building confidence and independence in the kitchen — skills that support healthy lifestyles both now and in the future.

Gaming, Strategy & Critical Thinking

Students can also develop communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills through Learning Commons Games. 

Using tabletop and board games as learning tools, students strengthen critical thinking, creativity, interpersonal skills, and strategic decision-making while also exploring self-directed projects and game design concepts.
