Faith

Holy Spirit is a school that is grounded in its Catholic faith. Our faith allows us to help develop our students into well rounded Christian citizens who will be proud to make the world a better place to live.

Why Catholic Education

A Catholic education provides children with academic excellence enhanced with traditional Christian values. Catholic school teachers have the unique opportunity to mold every aspect of a child’s growth and development. Foremost in this development is the spiritual – educators teach the message of Jesus. Through prayer, religious instruction, liturgies, and daily interaction, students become rooted in faith.

Hallmarks of Catholic schools include high academic standards, self discipline, safety, and a sense of community and belonging. Teachers and staff model respect for all and an acceptance of each child’s talents, abilities, and personal challenges. Educators create a safe, loving environment that encourages students to believe in their capabilities and to work toward their potential.

A variety of learning strategies are used to connect with the child’s framework of understanding. A strong core curriculum is complemented with enrichment programs. Technology, drama, music, French language instruction and athletic programs add to the diversity of a child’s experiences and prepare the individual for an ever-changing world in which critical thinking is not only a habit, but a way of life.

Holy Spirit Catholic School, as a member of the Evergreen School Division is committed to constantly seek new ways to better serve our students.

Parents are recognized as the primary educators of their children. They collaborate with teachers and administrators as partners in education.
The Spirit is alive and growing at Holy Spirit Catholic School.

Leadership & Service

Preparing young people to make a positive impact on the world is something taken very seriously at Holy Spirit Catholic School. Accordingly, every effort is made to participate in events and interact with the community outside our doors in order foster a sense of giving, responsibility and civic pride. Our good intentions are only amplified by practicing good works.

- Dedicated School Council organizing exciting events for all of our students
- Helping one of our Community members send shoe boxes to Mexico filled with school supplies and small toys for children who might go without.
- Annual participation in the Terry Fox Run
- Students raise money for the Holy Childhood Association which is dedicated to helping children in developing countries.
- Our annual yearbook is published with help of student photographers and graphic artists.
- Student group – The Green Team- helps keep our playground and our school clean.
- Buddy programs matching older students with younger classes to help with various activities.
- Student volunteers help out every day in the kindergarten classroom at lunch time.

These are only some of the ways we work to help students develop a sense of citizenship and responsibility and a belief that they can make a difference. Hopefully, by encouraging our students to share their God-given gifts, they are helping make the world a better place.
